Israeli police detain 2 Palestinian women in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces on Tuesday detained two Palestinian women in the Old City of Jerusalem, a local committee leader said.

The head of a committee for prisoners' families in Jerusalem said Israeli police detained Sabah Abu Hadwan, 38, and her daughter Alaa Ayyoub Abu Hadwan, 21, at the Chain Gate entrance to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

The women were taken to the Beit Elyahu police station.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem in 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognized abroad.
