Palestinian doctor named Person of the Year by French Oumma Media

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian doctor, Samah Jabr, head of the psychiatric unit in the Palestinian Ministry of Health was named Person of the Year 2015 by French Oumma Media.

Jabr was given the award after being hosted to present scientific classes on psychiatry and health in Palestine. She won the award with 35 percent of votes.

The doctor is an international activist who educates and writes about the Palestinian humanitarian condition and the psychological effects of Israeli military occupation.

She obtained her medical degree from al-Quds University and specialized in psychiatry at a French university, specializing in psychoanalysis at the Israeli Psychoanalytic Society.

Jabr is currently head of the psychiatric unit at the Palestinian Ministry of Health and supervises psychiatric services in the occupied West Bank.
