QALQILIYA (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian teenager was injured with live fire during clashes with Israeli forces in the village of Kafr Qaddum in the northern occupied West Bank on Saturday.

Kafr Qaddum popular resistance coordinator Murad Shtewei said Wael Abdullah,16, was shot in the thigh as Israeli forces dispersed a protest on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to Rafidia hospital for treatment.

Shtewei said Israeli forces chased down the injured teen in an attempt to detain him, but youths in the area managed to help him get into the ambulance.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an they were looking into the reports.

Residents of Kafr Qaddum are among many in Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank who carry out weekly Friday demonstrations in opposition to the Israeli military occupation.
