RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Israeli Ofer military court decided on Thursday to release six Palestinian students from Birzeit University, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said in a statement.

The students were identified as Ahmad Khader, Hassan Daraghma, Muhammad Iyad Zakarna, and three women Miran al-Barghouthi, Bayan Safi and Zeinab al-Barghouthi.

Israeli authorities had detained the students while taking part at an activity in solidarity with hunger-striking prisoners near Ofer on Feb. 28, 2017.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,500 Palestinian prisoners were being held in Israeli custody as of January.
