Former Palestinain prisoner who spent 15 years in Israeli jails dies in Gaza

GAZA (Ma’an) -- Former Palestinian prisoner Ahmad Talib, 68, died on Monday at dawn in the al-Saftawi neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs. 

The committee said in a statement that after spending more than 15 years in Israeli prison, Talib was released in the the 1985 Jibril Agreement between the Israeli government and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), in which Israel released 1,150 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for three Israeli prisoners who had been captured during the First Lebanon War.

The committee presented its condolences to Talib’s family and relatives.
