Palestinian detained for allegedly throwing explosive near Jenin-area checkpoint

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- A Palestinian was detained in the northern occupied West Bank on Monday evening for allegedly throwing an explosive device, Israeli police said on Monday.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said in a statement that a suspect on a motorcycle threw an explosive device near the al-Jalama checkpoint in the district of Jenin and fled the scene on Monday.

Rosenfeld did not mention whether anyone was injured in the incident.

Rosenfeld added that Israeli forces set up roadblocks in the area and searched the area, before “information was received” leading to the detention of a Palestinian man in his twenties.
