HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained a 17-year-old Palestinian on Friday for unknown reasons, while the boy was on his way to Hebron city in the southern occupied West Bank.
The boy, identified as Muhammad Imad Jaradat, was detained at the entrance of the town of Sair, northeast of Hebron.
Jaradat’s cousin, also named Muhammad Jaradat, told Ma’an that Israeli forces station at the Beit Einun crossroads -- which Israeli forces
sealed Thursday evening due to what they claimed was “an increase in stone throwing in the area” -- detained his cousin and took him to the Etzion detention center for unknown reasons.
Jaradat said that his cousin’s father received a call from Israeli authorities, using a private number, telling him that his son had been detained and demanded that he recite the boy’s ID card number to authorities on the phone.
An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into reports.
