Israeli forces detain 2 Palestinians from Hebron district

HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained two Palestinians from the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron on Wednesday afternoon, local activist Muhammad Ayyad Awwad told Ma’an.

Awwad said that Israeli forces detained Muhammad Samer Ayyash Ikhlayyil, a 38-year-old resident of the village of Beit Ummar, at the Hizma checkpoint in the Jerusalem district as he was heading back from work, while Mahmoud Abu Hashhash was detained in the al-Fawwar refugee camp.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that they would look into the report.

Israeli forces detain Palestinians on a daily basis, with the UN reporting an average of 78 detentions raids each week so far this year.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,300 Palestinians were detained by Israel as of March.
