Security guard for southern West Bank electricity company stabbed by burglars

HEBRON (Ma'an) -- A security guard on night duty at the offices of the southern West Bank electricity company in the town of Dura was stabbed and injured by unknown assailants overnight Friday, according to Palestinian police.

Police spokesman Luay Irzeiqat told Ma'an that burglars broke into the offices and tried to rob it. The watchman noticed the assailants and confronted them, and was stabbed "several times."

He was evacuated to al-Ahli hospital in Hebron where doctors said he was in a stable condition.

The electricity company released a statement describing the "hideous" assault as unrepresentative of Palestinian values and morals.
