Young Palestinian man drowns off the coast of Ashdod

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A Young Palestinian man from occupied East Jerusalem drowned on Saturday off the coast Ashdod in southern Israel.

Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri said in a statement that lifeguards pulled out a 19-year-old Palestinian, who she did not name, after he drowned at the Hakshatot (Arches) beach in Ashdod.

He was in a critical condition, and lifeguards announced his death shortly after he was pulled out of the water.
