BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli border police raided the occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem on Sunday and detained a Palestinian in connection with a cache of weapons found in the area, according to an Israeli police spokesperson.

Micky Rosenfeld wrote in a statement that Israeli forces conducted an "operation" in the Bethlehem area, without specifying the precise location of the raid, and said weapons, ammunition, and a silencer for a pistol were seized.

One Palestinian suspect was detained in connection to the weapons, and was being interrogated by Israeli police, Rosenfeld added.

The raid came after Israeli forces detained at least five Palestinians in predawn raids early Sunday. Israeli border police also shot and killed a Palestinian man during raids, after he was pursued by Israeli forces for allegedly committing two drive-by shootings the day prior.

According to a joint report released by a number of Palestinian rights groups on Sunday, Israeli forces detained a total of 388 Palestinians, including 70 minors and 13 women, across the occupied Palestinian territory during the month of June.
