BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 21 Palestinians during overnight raids across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem between Wednesday and Thursday, Israeli and Palestinian sources reported.

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to a joint report released by a number of Palestinian rights groups earlier this month, Israeli forces detained a total of 388 Palestinians, including 70 minors and 13 women, across the occupied Palestinian territory during the month of June alone.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,300 Palestinians were imprisoned by Israel as of June.

East Jerusalem

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) reported that ten Palestinians, the majority of whom are minors, were detained in occupied Jerusalem, where tensions have been running high over the past week, since Israeli authorities installed heightened security measures around the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound following a deadly attack in the area.

PPS identified the detainees as Hamza Ajaj, Qusay Dari, Muhammad Ubeid, Nadim al-Safadi, Nidal al-Froukh, Ashraf Elayyan, Ahmad Kayid Mahmoud, Anas Abu Asab, Muhammad Abu Khdeir, and Raed al-Sayyad.

Northern West Bank

In the northernmost West Bank district of Jenin, an Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that one Palestinian was detained in the village of Qabatiya. PPS confirmed one detention in Jenin, identifying the Palestinian as Humam Adnan Kamil.

PPS added that Mumin Nawwaf Raddad was detained in the Tulkarem district.

The army spokesperson said Israeli forces detained one Palestinian in the Tulkarem-area village of Saida, while another was detained in al-Aqaba, in the neighboring Tubas district.

In the Nablus district, PPS said two Palestinians, identified as Ward Nitham Antari and Muhammad Mustafa Hamdan, were detained. The army confirmed the two detentions, saying they took place in the villages of Deir Sharaf and Salim.

In Qalqiliya, the army said one person was detained in Immatim. PPS reported that one Palestinian, Muhammad Ahmad Ubeid, was detained in the district overnight.

Central and southern West Bank

In the central West Bank, the Israeli army reported one detention in the village of Rafat in the Salfit district, while PPS said one Anas Khalid Ayyad was detained in the area.

In the Hebron district, PPS reported that five Palestinians were detained in total, identifying them as Ahmad Abd al-Rasul Bashir, Hamza Sami al-Jaabari, Saddam Majid Zein, Abd al-Karim Nayef Zein, and Khalil Moussa Daajna.

The Israeli army spokesperson also reported five detentions in the district, listing one detention in Hebron city, another in Idhna, one in Bani Naim, and two in Khirbet Raqa.

Israeli news site Arutz Sheva meanwhile reported that Israeli forces found weapons during overnight raids in Hebron City and the villages of Yatta and Bani Naim.
