Israeli forces detain Palestinian man and his daughter in Salfit-area town

SALFIT (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian man and his daughter after assaulting the man on Monday afternoon in the village of al-Zawiya east of Salfit in the central occupied West Bank.

Eyewitnesses told Ma’an that Israeli forces assaulted and detained Yasser Suleiman and subsequently detained his 15 year-old daughter, Sujoud, in the al-Jisr area north of al-Zawiya.

Israeli forces reportedly prevented ambulance crews from reaching Suleiman and providing him with medical care.

Locals added that Suleiman is originally from the besieged Gaza Strip, and has been living with his family in al-Zawiya since 2000.

The circumstances surrounding Suleiman’s detention and assault remained unknown.

An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into reports.
