GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A member of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades -- the Hamas movement's military wing -- died in a “training accident” on Tuesday in the southern Gaza Strip, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.

The ministry identified the fighter as 24-year-old Hani Faraj Muhammad Shluf.

The brigades later released a statement confirming Shluf’s involvement in the group and his death, though they did not clarify the exact circumstances of his death.

Shluf was the third Hamas fighter to die over the past week. Two fighters died last week during a tunnel collapse.
