BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Thirteen Palestinians were injured during clashes with Israeli forces early Friday morning during a raid in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah.

According to locals, Israeli forces raided the Ramallah-area city of al-Bireh where they surrounded a residential building in the Umm al-Sharayit neighborhood and searched all the building’s apartments.

No detentions were reported.

Meanwhile, locals reported that several Israeli military vehicles and a helicopter were stationed in the area during the raid.

Clashes erupted between local Palestinian youth who threw stones and the soldiers who fired rubber-coated steel bullets, tear-gas canisters and stun grenades at youths and houses in the area.

According to locals, 13 Palestinians were injured, suffering from either rubber-coated steel bullet-related injuries or severe tear gas inhalation.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an they were looking into reports.

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Due to the typically aggressive nature of the raids, clashes often erupt between local Palestinian youth who throw stones and are met in response with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear gas, often resulting in serious, sometimes fatal, injuries.

According to United Nations documentation, Israeli forces conducted 123 search and arrest operations across the West Bank and arrested 152 Palestinians, including 20 children, between September 12 and 25.
