Israel detains Palestinian at Erez crossing in northern Gaza

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities detained a Palestinian at the Beit Hanoun (Erez) ( crossing between Israel and the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

Head of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee in the Gaza Strip, Abd al-Nasser Farawneh, told Ma’an that the Israeli authorities detained Hassan Omar Shamiyeh from Gaza City while he was at the crossing.

Farawneh said that Shamiyeh had gone for a security interview at Erez and was then informed by the Palestinian liaison on Wednesday evening of his detention.

Shamiyeh is the third Palestinian to be detained at the Erez crossing in one week.
