Israeli forces detain 20 Palestinians in overnight West Bank raids

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 20 Palestinians from across the occupied West Bank during predawn raids on Tuesday, according to the Israeli army.

The army released a statement saying that several “wanted” Palestinians were detained during raids.

In the northern West Bank city of Jenin, Israeli forces detained three Palestinians identified as Bassam Nabil Thiab, Muhammad Abed al-Rahman Abu al-Rub and Muhammad Khalil Kamil.

In the city of Nablus, also in the northern West Bank, two Palestinians identified as Mutaz al-Affuri and Hamzeh Mamun Jaara were detained.

In the central West Bank district of Jerusalem, forces detained six Palestinians. They were identified as Ahmad Mazen Shihadeh, Elian Hussein Rabie, Jihad al-Shuani, Muayyad Kinaan, Muayyad Rifaat Rayyan and Ahmad Saber al-Khdour.

One Palestinian youth, identified as Nour al-Najjar, was detained from the Bethlehem-area al-Duheisha refugee camp, in the southern West Bank.

In the Hebron district, also in the southern West Bank, Israeli forces detained five Palestinians.

They were identified as Abd al-Hamid Attiyeh al-Badawi, Tamer Imad al-Saadeh, Tamer Jihad al-Baw, Izz al-Din Abu Sil and Ayyad Khalil Eweidat.

Four other Palestinians who were detained were identified as Qassam Hussein al-Faraj, Yahiya Ulwi, Ahmad Abu Youssef and Ahmad Rayyan, though the location of their detentions remained unclear.

Israeli search and detention raids are a nightly occurrence in Palestinian cities, towns, and refugee camps across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there were 6,119 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli jails as of February.
