May 24, 2018 1:05 P.M. (Updated: May 25, 2018 2:15 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces allegedly assaulted two Palestinians on separate occasions earlier this month in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said in a statement on Wednesday.

PPS said that Israeli forces assaulted and beat Ali Muhammad Deir Zaid from the al-Jalazun refugee camp in the central West Bank district of Ramallah as they raided his house at dawn on May 2nd.

"Soldiers assaulted Deir Zaid after handcuffing him, insulted him and later took him to the Beit El military camp where he was held for at least five hours before being transferred to the Russian compound where he is currently held," PSS said.

Another detainee identified by PPS as Firas Marrrar from the southern West Bak city of Hebron was reportedly assaulted by Israeli forces while at the Container checkpoint in the Bethlehem district on May 18th.

According to PPS, Marrar was detained after his assault and later transferred to the Etzion detention center.

Marrar is a former Palestinian prisoner, who prior to his arrest on May 18th, had recently finished serving a 13 month sentence in Israeli prison.
