Israeli soldier succumbs to wounds sustained during predawn West Bank raid

Ronen Luberski, an Israeli soldier, succumbed to wounds on Saturday
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- The Israeli soldier who was injured earlier this week during a predawn raid in a Palestinian refugee camp died of his wounds on Saturday.

Israeli media identified the soldier as Ronen Luberski, 20, of the “elite” Duvdevan unit of the Israeli army.

Luberski and his troop were raiding the al-Amari refugee camp in the central occupied west Bank city of Ramallah when he was critically injured after a slab of marble was thrown onto his head.

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman vowed to “reach those who threw stones at the soldier, and find them dead or alive.”

Israeli military search and arrest operations are a nightly occurrence in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Due to the typically violent nature of the raids, particularly in refugee camps, confrontations often break out between the armed Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youth who respond with stone throwing.
