Palestinian succumbs to wounds sustained during Gaza protests

June 14, 2018 11:16 A.M. (Updated: June 18, 2018 12:59 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian youth succumbed to wounds on Thursday morning that he had sustained during the "Great March of Return" protests in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip several days ago.

Spokesperson of the Gaza Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qidra, confirmed in a statement that Ahmad Ziad Tawfiq la-Assi, 21, succumbed to his wounds at the European Hospital in Gaza City.

Al-Qidra pointed out that al-Assi was injured in the head by Israeli forces during protests in eastern Khan Younis days ago.

The ministry added that al-Assi's death brings the total number of Palestinians killed in protests since March 30th to 126.

The "Great March of Return" protests were launched by thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza -- which has suffered from a decade-long Israeli siege -- who took to the borders to demand their right of return as refugees to their orignial homelands, now in present-day Israel.
