Gazan resistance unit to launch 5000 incendiary kites on Friday

June 14, 2018 3:59 P.M. (Updated: June 16, 2018 3:03 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The “incendiary kites unit" of return camps in the central Gaza Strip threatened on Thursday to expand the circle of targeted Israeli fields surrounding Gaza.

The unit, calling themselves the “Sons of Zouari” in reference to Tunisian engineer assassinated by the Israeli Mossad, pledged to expand their targeting circle up to 40 kilometers outside of the Gaza borders.

Members of the group held a press conference on Thursday noon at the return camp of eastern al-Breij promising to launch 5000 incendiary kites targeting Israeli areas surrounding Gaza on Friday, Eid al-Fitr day; a Muslim holiday marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Israeli forces opened fire at kites launched from eastern al-Breij following the conference.

Witnesses confirmed that an Israeli drone fired a missile targeting youths flying balloons with attached Molotov cocktails; no injuries were reported.

The Gaza High Committee for Marches of Return had earlier declared that Eid prayers would be held at return camps alongside the eastern borders of the Gaza Strip.
