BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces conducted an airstrike targeting a Palestinian vehicle in the al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip late Monday night.

The Israeli army said in a statement that they targeted the vehicle of a member of the Hamas movement.

Shortly after, thirteen rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israeli communities near the Gaza border area in response to the bombing.

Israeli Ynet news site said that 3 of the rockets were intercepted by the Israeli Iron Dome defense system.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Resistance Committees in the Gaza Strip said in a statement that "every Israeli strike or assault would be met with an immediate response."
