Israeli forces detain 28 Palestinians from West Bank, including woman, former minister

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 28 Palestinians, including a woman and a former Palestinian minister, during predawn raids across the occupied West Bank on Thursday, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said.

In the southern West Bank district of Hebron, one Palestinian was detained and identified as Khaled al-Battat.

PPS said that Israeli forces detained two Palestinians in the central West Bank district of Jerusalem and identified them as Ali Dandan and his father from Jerusalem City.

Two residents of Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin village and another 10 Palestinians were detained, including one woman, during the Khan al-Ahmar gathering between Wednesday noon and Thursday morning.

The 10 detainees were identified by PPS as Sarah Muhammad Abu Dahuk, Nasser Jaafar, Rami Khawaldeh, Murad Ishtawi, Hasan Qandil, Taleb Jahalin, Muhammad Ibrahim Abu Dahuk, Ahmad Abu Dahuk, Muhammad Odeh Jahalin, Ahmad Moussa Abu Dahuk, as well as other Palestinians who were not yet identified.

In the central West Bank district of Ramallah, Israeli forces detained 5 Palestinians; they were identified as Muhammad Samer Hussein, Nadeem Muhammad Abu Rabea, Yazan Muhammad Abu Rabea, Muhammad Hamad, and Hussein Shabane.

In the northern West Bank district of Qalqiliya, PPS confirmed the detention of three Palestinians and identified them as Usayd Ahmad Bari, 22, Islam Amin al-Tawil, 25, and Asaad Amin al-Tawil, 23.

In the northern West Bank district of Nablus, another Palestinian was detained and identified as Nour Barakat Yammak, 24.

In the northern West Bank district of Jenin, PPS confirmed that Israeli forces detained another four Palestinians and identified them as former Minister of Detainees and Former Detainees, Wasfi Qabha, Mahdi Hifawi, Muhammad Suleiman Mahamid, and Alaa Ahmad Ragheb al-Saadi.

Local sources told Ma’an that Israeli forces raided several areas in the West Bank, causing clashes to erupt among Palestinians and Israeli forces in the Palestinian villages of al-Mazraa al-Qibliya in the central West Bank district of Ramallah and al-Bireh, and Assira al-Shamaliya in the northern West Bank district of Nablus.

According to Hebrew-language news outlets, Israeli forces had seized thousands of shekels from the al-Eizariya village in the central West Bank district of Jerusalem during overnight raids.

Israeli raids into Palestinian towns and villages are near daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,900 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons.
