Israeli forces open fire near Gaza return camps

Aug. 31, 2018 12:21 P.M. (Updated: Aug. 31, 2018 2:05 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces opened fire on Friday morning towards the return camps alongside the eastern borders of the besieged Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses told Ma'an that Israeli military watchtowers east of Khan Younis district, in the southern Gaza Strip, opened fire at a number of Palestinians who were near the security border fence.

No injuries were reported from the shooting.

Hundreds of Palestinians took to the Gaza borders on Friday, preparing to participate in the 23rd Friday of "The Great March of Return" which started on March 30th.

The "Great March of Return" protests were launched by thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza -- which has suffered from a decade-long Israeli siege -- who took to the borders to demand their right of return as refugees to their original homelands, now in present-day Israel.
