GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) announced that almost 1.9 million Palestinians live in the besieged Gaza Strip, according to the Population, Housing, and Establishments Census 2017.
PCBS President, Ola Awad, said during a press conference in the Gaza Strip that the total population of Gaza was 1,899,291, which makes up 39.7% of the total Palestinian population in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.
She added that males make up 50.7% of the total amount, while females 49.3%.
Awad confirmed that the total refugee population in Gaza amounts to 1,239,112, that is 65.2% of the total amount.
The United Nations had warned in a previous report that the Gaza Strip could become "unlivable" by 2020.
