Israeli forces detain Palestinian at Bethlehem-area checkpoint

Sept. 1, 2018 2:36 P.M. (Updated: Sept. 2, 2018 11:56 A.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian youth, on Saturday, while at the Container checkpoint northeast of the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem.

Sources said that Israeli forces deployed at the Container checkpoint detained a Palestinian youth, who was identified by locals as Fadi Ali Ayyad, 24, from the Dheisheh refugee camp in Bethlehem.

Ayyad was detained after Israeli soldiers stopped the vehicle he was riding for search.

The Container checkpoint, located northeast of Bethlehem near the Wadi Nar canyon east of al-Sawahira al-Sharqiya village, is on the only major road open to Palestinians that connects the southern West Bank regions of Hebron and Bethlehem to the central and northern West Bank.
