Israel seals Galbou prison after assault on Palestinian prisoners

Sept. 1, 2018 5:14 P.M. (Updated: Sept. 9, 2018 2:32 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Israeli Prisons Services of the Galbou prison sealed the entire prison after its suppression forces raided section 1 of the prison, assaulted Palestinians prisoners, searched and destroyed their personal belongings, on Friday.

Head of the Prisoners and Former Prisoners’ Affairs Committee, Qadri Abu Bakr, said that the attack on section 1, during which Israeli forces pepper-sprayed prisoners and fired tear-gas bombs at them, clearly reveals “revenge” against Palestinian prisoners by Israel.

He added that the attack increased tensions inside the prison.

Abu Bakr called upon international and local humanitarian and rights institutions across the international community to intervene and take immediate actions to stop such attacks against Palestinian prisoners and to pressure Israel to commit to international laws and agreements in the way it treats Palestinian prisoners.
