Abbas discusses national reconciliation with Egyptian delegation

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received a delegation of the Egyptian General Intelligence on Sunday at the presidential headquarters in the central occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

The meeting between Abbas and the Egyptian delegation was held to discuss the latest developments regarding the Palestinian national reconciliation.

During the meeting, the Egyptian delegation reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast stance in supporting the Palestinian people and their struggle to end the on-going Israeli occupation, as well as to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The delegation stressed the continuation of Egypt's efforts aimed at ending the Palestinian division and achieving reconciliation, in order to strengthen the Palestinian people's bonds of national unity.

Both Abbas and the Egyptian delegation agreed to stay in close contact in the upcoming days to coordinate plans for achieving national reconciliation and overcoming all obstacles attain national unity under the Palestinian Authority (PA).
