Israeli forces open fire at Gazan fishermen, youths

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli naval forces opened fire at Palestinian fishermen, on Thursday morning, off the coast of the besieged Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses told Ma'an that Israeli naval boats opened fire several times on Palestinian fishermen as they were working along the coast of the northern Gaza Strip.

Fishermen were forced to sail back to shore in fear for their lives.

The Israeli army regularly detains and opens fire on unarmed Palestinian fishermen, shepherds and farmers along the border areas if they approach the unilaterally declared buffer zone.

Meanwhile, local sources said that Israeli forces opened fire from a military post towards a group of Palestinian youths who approached the return camps in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.

No injuries were reported in both incidents.
