Taekwondo championship postponed due to delayed Israeli permits

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Third Palestinian Open International Taekwondo Championship - WTF G1, to open in the central occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, was postponed due to a delay in Israel issuing permits for the players.

According to the Palestine Taekwondo Federation (PTF), the championship was supposed to commence on Thursday, however, was postponed until Friday due to a delay in issuing Israeli permits for the players.

PTF said that Israel issued 200 permits, out of 350 applications submitted by the players.

PTF added that players from the United States, Tunisia, Jordan, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, and Libya already arrived in Ramallah City, in preparation for the championship.

The two-day international championship was originally scheduled to commence on Thursday at the sports center in Birzeit University, near Ramallah, but was postponed in hope that the remaining permits will be issued.
