Israel to demolish Palestinian home as punishment

Sept. 17, 2018 1:59 P.M. (Updated: Sept. 18, 2018 3:20 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces raided the family home of 16-year-old Khalil Youssef Ali Jabarin, on predawn Monday, in the southern occupied West Bank city of Yatta.

According to local sources, Israeli forces took measurements of the Jabarin family home and drilled holes in its walls, in preparation for its demolition.

Israeli forces thoroughly searched the house, destroyed the family's belongings and damaged most of the furniture.

Jabarin had carried out a stabbing attack on Sunday near the illegal Israeli settlement of Gush Etzion, in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, due to which one Israeli settler died and another sustained serious injuries.

Jabarain was shot and injured by Israeli forces and immediately detained.

Israeli forces also set up checkpoints on the entrances to several towns and villages in the southern West Bank following the stabbing attack, searching Palestinian vehicles and residents passing on nearby roads.

Israel always demolishes family homes of Palestinians, who were involved in attacking Israelis as part of its collective punishment policy against the Palestinian people.

Israel has come under harsh condemnation over the past several years for its response to attacks committed by Palestinians on Israelis, which rights groups have said amounted to "collective punishment" on family members and entire communities in a clear violation of international law.
