JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained the Secretary of the Fatah movement, Yasser Darwish, on predawn Sunday in the Palestinian neighborhood of Issawiya in occupied East Jerusalem.

According to Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, prior to the detention of Darwish, large numbers of Israeli forces stormed the Issawiya neighborhood and raided his home.

PPS confirmed that during the raid, Israeli forces thoroughly searched Darwish’s home and damaged his personal belongings, including the furniture.

Muhammad Abu al-Hummus, member of a local follow-up committee, said that Darwish was detained by Israeli forces and taken to an Israeli detention center for interrogation.

Abu al-Hummus added that following Darwish’s detention, clashes broke out among Palestinian youths and Israeli forces, in which forces fired sound bombs towards the neighborhood repeatedly, while youths threw rocks.
