JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- The Israeli police announced that a Palestinian was detained on Saturday in the city of Afula, in northern Israel, on suspicion of planning to carry out a “terror attack.”

According to Hebrew-language news outlets, Israeli police announced that they had received information regarding a 21-year-old Palestinian, a resident from the occupied West Bank, planning on carrying out an alleged terror attack in Afula city.

Sources said that large numbers of Israeli police were deployed across the city, in search of the Palestinian, additionally received several reports that helped identify the vehicle, which he was reportedly driving.

Sources added that the Palestinian, whose identity remained unknown, was later “neutralized” and detained by the Shin Bet, Israel's internal security agency, and transferred for interrogation.

No weapons were found in his possession.
