Hundreds of dunams set on fire near Gaza

Sept. 24, 2018 11:16 A.M. (Updated: Sept. 24, 2018 2:48 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Palestinians continued to launch incendiary kites and balloons, on Sunday evening, from the besieged Gaza Strip towards Israeli communities surrounding Gaza.

According to Hebrew-language news outlets, about seven fires broke out on Sunday due to the continuous launch of incendiary balloons from Gaza.

Sources added that the incendiary balloons set around 300 dunams (74 acres) on fire in the Israeli communities surrounding Gaza.

Israeli firefighting crews arrived to the various areas that caught fire and managed to gain control of the flames, which were later extinguished.

In July, it was reported that about 6,000 dunams (1482.6 acres) of agricultural produce as well as thousands of dunams of open fields were burned due to about 678 fires caused by incendiary kites and balloons flown from inside the Gaza Strip.
