Egyptian President: 'Trump made unique changes worldwide'

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi met with the United States President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly meeting in the US, on Monday.

During the meeting, the US President described al-Sisi as "a great friend."

Trump added that relations with Egypt "has never been stronger," saying that the US is working with Egypt "on many different fronts, including military and trade."

For his part, al-Sisi said that this meeting "speaks volumes of the magnitude of the relationship between Egypt and the US," adding that during Trump's term, the relationship "has led to even more support."

Following the meeting, the Egyptian President posted on his official Facebook page saying that "it was a great honor meeting a great personality such as US President Donald Trump, who has made unique changes in the US policies worldwide."

Spokesperson of the Egyptian Presidency, Bassam Radi, said in a statement that the US president stressed on his country's administration's interest in strengthening its strategic relations with Egypt.

Radi added that Trump expressed his aspiration to enhancing coordination with Egypt on Middle East issues.

He pointed out that the US President stressed that Egypt is a key partner in the war against terrorism, expressing his country's full support for Egyptian efforts on this matter.
