Hamas delegation heads to Cairo for talks

Sept. 29, 2018 2:40 P.M. (Updated: Sept. 29, 2018 4:22 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A delegation of Hamas movement official from the besieged Gaza Strip headed to the Egyptian capital of Cairo, on Saturday, via the Rafah crossing, between Egypt and Gaza, in the southern Gaza Strip.

Sources told Ma'an that 29 Hamas leaders, including Khalil al-Hayya, Rawhi Mushtaha, Nizar Awadallah, Salah al-Bardawil and others, left the Gaza Strip heading to Cairo to meet with Egyptian leaders.

Political analyst and writer, Ibrahim al-Madhun, said that the delegation's visit is to continue reconciliation talks and discussions under Egyptian sponsorship.

He pointed out that the visit is "normal" and is not related to the increased violence at the eastern borders of the Gaza Strip on Friday.

Al-Madhun stressed that Hamas supports Egyptian peace efforts.
