Hamas delegation arrives into Cairo

CAIRO (Ma'an) -- A Hamas movement delegation arrived into Cairo, the Egyptian capital, on Saturday afternoon headed by Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya.

The delegation had left the besieged Gaza Strip to Cairo, earlier Saturday, via the Rafah crossing, between Egypt and Gaza, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The delegation is made up of 29 Hamas officials and leaders who would be carrying out reconciliation talks under Egyptian sponsorship in Cairo.

Head of the Egyptian Intelligence Services, Abbas Kabel, will be meeting with the delegation later Saturday.

Political analyst and writer, Ibrahim al-Madhun, said that the delegation's visit is to continue reconciliation talks and discussions under Egyptian sponsorship.

He pointed out that the visit is "normal" and is not related to the increased violence at the eastern borders of the Gaza Strip on Friday.
