Incendiary balloons spark fires in Israeli communities near Gaza

Oct. 1, 2018 10:25 A.M. (Updated: Oct. 1, 2018 1:11 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Five fires broke out, on Sunday, in Israeli communities surrounding the besieged Gaza Strip as incendiary balloons landed in the area.

According to Hebrew-language news outlets, Israeli firefighting crews arrived to various areas in Israeli communities surrounding Gaza that caught fire and managed to gain control of the flames, which were later extinguished.

Sources added that the five fires were a result of incendiary balloons launched by Palestinians from Gaza.

Palestinians in Gaza view the incendiary kites as a form of protest against Israel's nearly 12-year blockade of Gaza and for Palestinian refugees right of return to their homes and lands which are now known as Israel.
