Incendiary kites, balloons spark 2 fires near Gaza

Oct. 4, 2018 11:01 A.M. (Updated: Oct. 4, 2018 11:48 A.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Two fires broke out, on Wednesday evening, in Israeli communities surrounding the besieged Gaza Strip as incendiary kites and balloons landed in the area.

Hebrew-language news outlets reported that one fire broke out in the Kissufim forest due to an incendiary kite, while another fire broke out in an open field nearby an Israeli community surrounding Gaza due to an incendiary balloon.

Firefighting crews arrived to the areas that caught fire and managed to gain control of the flames.

No severe damages or injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, Hebrew-language media also posted a photo of a bunch of balloons hanging on a tree carrying suspicious objects.

Sources confirmed that the balloons were launched from Gaza into southern Israel.

Palestinians in Gaza view the incendiary kites as a form of protest against Israel's nearly 12-year blockade of Gaza and for Palestinian refugees right of return to their homes and lands which are now known as Israel.
