Israel releases Palestinian after serving nearly 17 years

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) confirmed, on Sunday, that Israeli authorities released a Palestinian after nearly 17 years in Israeli prisons.

PPS said that Palestinian prisoner, Samir Muhammad Salman, 37, from the village of Talfit, in the northern occupied West Bank district of Nablus, was released by Israeli authorities.

According to Palestinian prisoners rights group Addameer, as of September, there are 5,781 Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons.
