Incendiary balloon lands in Jerusalem-area settlement

Oct. 8, 2018 11:36 A.M. (Updated: Oct. 8, 2018 12:57 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- An incendiary balloon landed in the backyard of a house, on Monday morning, in the illegal Israeli settlement of Givat Zeev, northwest of the central occupied West Bank district of Jerusalem.

According to Hebrew-language news outlets, Palestinians launched the incendiary balloon towards the settlement; Israeli police were immediately contacted to the backyard to investigate the incident.

The balloon did not set any land or objects on fire, no injuries were reported.

Sources said that Israeli police called upon Israeli settlers to be cautious "when it comes to suspicious objects, which may contain explosives or incendiary materials, that could endanger the public's safety."

It is noteworthy that in July, a balloon carrying flammable material was launched from the Palestinian city of Beit Jala, in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, towards central Israel and landed in the illegal Israeli settlement of Har Gilo.
