HEBRON (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli forces, on Monday morning, for allegedly carrying out a stabbing attack against an Israeli soldier in the Old City of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that Muhammad Maamar al-Atrash was shot and killed by Israeli forces for carrying out a stabbing attack against an Israeli soldier at an Israeli military checkpoint near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron's Old City.

The Israeli soldier suffered minor injuries.

Locals said that large numbers of Israeli forces arrived to the scene and immediately sealed off the area.

Medical sources pointed out that a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance also arrived to the scene, however, paramedics were prevented from providing medical treatment to the Palestinian.
