PLO Central Council to convene in Ramallah City

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Central Council, the second highest Palestinian decision making body after the National Council, is scheduled to meet on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the central occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

Mahmoud Aloul, deputy chairman of ruling Fatah movement, said earlier that the PLO Central Council meeting “aims to establish mechanisms for the implementation of the decisions of previous sessions of the national and central councils.”

Aloul referred to decisions that have to do with re-defining relations with Israel, which the Palestinians say has reneged on all agreements it had signed with them, starting with the 1993 Oslo Accords and with the United States Trump administration, which recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and closed the PLO’s office in Washington.

Aloul added “We want to be able to have our natural rights back, particularly since the Palestinians are the only party still honoring these agreements.”
