In video - Israeli forces detain Palestinian father, son in Bethlehem

Nidal Abu Aker
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces raided the Dheisheh refugee camp in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, early Thursday morning, and detained a father and son.

Locals told Ma'an that Israeli forces large numbers of Israeli soldiers raided the refugee camp on Wednesday morning before raiding former prisoner and journalist Nidal Abu Aker's house.

Israeli forces then detained Nidal, 50, and his son Muhammad, 21.

Sources added that "violent" clashes erupted in the refugee camp between local youths and Israeli forces.

Nidal Abu Aker had previously spent 15 years in Israeli jails, including 11 years under administrative detention; an Israeli policy of imprisonment without charge or trial.

Abu Aker was released in 2015, following a hunger strike he carried out against being held in administrative detention for 18 months, before detaining him again in 2016; Abu Aker was then held in prison for about a year.
