Israeli forces detain 12 Palestinians in West Bank raids

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 12 Palestinians during raids across the occupied West Bank, on Thursday dawn.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said that Israeli forces re-detained prisoner Yaqoub Abu Assab, 47, from Jerusalem upon ending his 7-year sentence in the Negev detention center.

Israeli forces detained one Palestinian from the southern West Bank district of Hebron, PPS identified him as Anas Rasras.

In the Bethlehem district in the southern West Bank, Israeli forces detained a former Palestinian prisoner, journalist Nidal Abu Aker, 50, and his son Muhammad, 21, from the Dheisheh refugee camp in Bethlehem City.

Nidal Abu Aker had previously spent 15 years in Israeli jails.

PPS pointed out that Israeli forces detained a Palestinian, whom they identified as Muhammad Shreiteh, from the al-Mazraa al-Gharbiyeh town near Ramallah in the central West Bank.

Israeli forces also detained Shreiteh's two sons, Yasser and Thaer; Thaer is head of the media department at the Prisoners and Former Prisoners' Affairs Committee.

Two other Palestinians were detained from the same town, they were identified as Shahed Ali Abu Laila and Adham Ibrahim Ladawdeh.

One Palestinian was detained from the al-Mughayyar town in the same district; PPS identified him as Yahiya Bader Abu Alia.

Another Palestinian was detained from the northern West Bank district of Tulkarem, he was identified as Muhammad Taher Naalwa.

Israeli forces detained two Palestinian youths from the Jenin district in the northern Wes Bank, they were identified as Muhammad Amjad Said Zakarneh and Majid Muhammad Alawneh.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,640 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 270 are child prisoners, of whom 50 are under the age of 16 years.
