Kuwait to contribute $50 million grant to PA budget

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian Ambassador to Kuwait, Rami Tahboub, announced, on late Sunday, that the government of Kuwait would contribute a $50 million grant to support the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) budget.

Following the announcement, Tahboub thanked Kuwait for its support of the Palestinian government and praised Kuwait’s continuous support for Palestine at all levels and in all fields.

In August, the United States Trump administration announced that it has made a decision to cut more than $200 million from the financial aid budget to Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip.

A senior US State Department official said that the more than $200 million in Economic Support Funds, which were originally planned for programs in the West Bank and Gaza, will be redirected to “high-priority projects elsewhere."
