Israel to punitively demolish home of Palestinian attack suspect

Nov. 27, 2018 2:13 P.M. (Updated: Nov. 29, 2018 11:34 A.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces delivered a demolition notice, on Tuesday, to the family of 16-year-old Palestinian prisoner, Khalil Yousef Ali Jabarin, who carried out an alleged stabbing attack, killing one Israeli and seriously injuring another.

Local sources confirmed that Israeli forces raided Yatta City in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron and delivered the Jabarin family a notice to demolish their home as a punishment for the attack carried out by their son.

The demolition notice said that the family would have to evacuate by Sunday, December 2nd or to submit an appeal to the Israeli Supreme Court before the deadline.

Appeals against punitive demolitions are rarely successful, even in cases in which the relatives of actual or alleged attackers have not been charged with any wrongdoing.

Jabarin carried out a stabbing attack on Sunday near the illegal Israeli settlement of Gush Etzion, in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, due to which one Israeli settler died and another sustained serious injuries.

Jabarain was shot and injured by Israeli forces and immediately detained afterwards.
Jabarin's medical condition was described as moderate.

Israel always demolishes family homes of Palestinians, who were involved in attacking Israelis as part of its collective punishment policy against the Palestinian people.

Israel has come under harsh condemnation over the past several years for its response to attacks committed by Palestinians on Israelis, which rights groups have said amounted to "collective punishment" on family members and entire communities in a clear violation of international law.
