Turkey's Red Crescent donates 8.5 tons of medical aid to Gaza

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian Ministry of Health dispatched from its warehouses in the northern occupied West Bank city of Nablus, about 8.5 tons of medical aid donated by the Turkish Red Crescent to the besieged Gaza Strip, on Monday.

According to the Palestinian Health Minister, Jawad Awwad, the ministry dispatched two truckloads of medical supplies worth $274,000, which included medicines to treat chronic diseases such as cancer and kidney diseases.

Awwad praised Turkey’s continued support to Gaza, pointing to the many vital projects that have been provided by Turkey to Palestine in all fields.

The President of the Red Crescent Organization in Turkey, Karam Kannik, affirmed the continued support of Turkey to Palestine and its people, particularly in the health sector.

Kannik added that in light of Israel’s ongoing blockade of Gaza, which he stressed, “has negatively affected all fields in Gaza, especially the health sector.”
