PPS: Israel detains 56 Palestinians across West Bank

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 56 Palestinians, including a Hamas movement leader, across the occupied West Bank, on predawn Thursday.

According to Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), Israeli forces detained two Palestinians in the southern West Bank district of Hebron. They were identified as Alaa Abryush and Mourad Yousef al-Salayma.

In the central West Bank district of Jerusalem, 23 Palestinians were detained. PPS identified them as Nafed al-Jaaba, Majed al-Jaaba, Fadi al-Jaaba, Mourad al-Ghazari, Amer Muhsein, Ahmad Jaber, Muhammad al-Dabbagh, Khader al-Ajlouni, Ahmad al-Bazlamit, Mahmoud Abed al-Latif, Amer Abu Arfeh, Muhammad al-Hashlamon, Jihad Qaws, Younis Ashour, Muhammad Ashour, Louay Nasser al-Din, Hamza Malhas, Khaled malhas, Abu Wael al-Fakhouri, Imad Abu Sneineh, Muhammad Ghneim, Mourad Mesk, and Mounir al-Basati.

In the central West Bank district of Ramallah, PPS confirmed that 15 Palestinians were detained. They were identified as former prisoner and Hamas movement leader, Amer al-Barghouthi, Hadi al-Barghouthi, Muhammad Habash Hamad, Ahmad Taysir Hamad, Balal Hamad, Asef al-Barghouthi, Khaldoun al-Barghouthi, Khaled al-Abed, Khaled Zibar, Muataz Shaher al-Barghouthi, Zahran Mousa al-Fahel, Amir al-Abed, Barhan Aziz Abdullah Awfi, Abdullah Aziz Abdullah Awfi, and Waed Samir Rajeh al-Barghouthi.

In the northern West Bank district of Nablus, four Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces. PPS identified them as Anan Bashkar, Fawzi bashkar, Raed Bashkar, and Amjad Bashkar.

In the northern West Bank district of Tulkarem, five Palestinians were detained. They were identified as Jaafar Suleiman Othman, Bakr Kharboush, Usama Samir Ibrahim Saad, and Muhammad Shadid along with his brother Munhel Tawfiq Shadid.

In the northern West bank district of Tubas, another four Palestinians were detained. PPS identified them as Fazea Sadqi Sawafta, Amer Hamza Daraghmeh, Muhammad Amar Sawafta, and Fadi Abed al-Razeq.

Israeli raids into Palestinian towns and villages are near daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,554 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons.
