RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained three Palestinian students, including two teen girls, in front of a local school in Beituniya village in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah, on Sunday.

According to local sources, Israeli forces shortly detained the three Palestinian students after school and transferred them to the Ofer detention center in the Ramallah district.
The Palestinian Ministry of Education said Israeli forces had forced the three students into an Israeli military jeep amid cries by other students nearby urging the soldiers to release them.
The reason for their detention remained unknown.
According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,554 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 230 are child prisoners and 41 are under the age of 16 years.
